Julia has a secret:she killed the guy she loved. It was an accident—sort of.

Julia is a Sary, the soul of a child who died before taking her first breath. Without this'breath of life' she and others like her must help those on the verge ofsuicide. It's a job Julia used to enjoy, until the accident that claimed herboyfriend’s life—an accident she knows was her fault. If living with the guiltweren't enough, she's now assigned to help a girl dealing with the loss of hermother, something Julia's not exactly the best role model for. If she can'tfigure out a way to help her, Julia's going to lose her position in the Sary, something she swore to her boyfriend would never happen.

Book Trailer:

Colors Like Memories was a book that there was never a moment something wasn't happening. The story started and hit the ground running. Most of the time I didn't want to put the book down even when I had to.  At first I will say the cover was very odd, but the deeper I went the more I understood the red feather. Soon I was indeed knee deep in Julia's amazing world full of Sary and the human that was her assignment. From the very first sentence~
"I greeted his tombstone the way I always did— with a swift kick".  I was immediately wanting to know more. And as I read more and more it all fell into place.

What is a Sary you might ask because I did? It is a "being" that died before it took its first breath. They have the choice to go "into the light" or become a Sary.  A Sary is assigned to a human who is suicidal. It is the Sary's job to try and help the human and prevent them from committing suicide.

The main character's, a broken hearted Sary named Julia. Her assignment is a teenager named Marcy, who has family(Dad) and boyfriend(ex) issues. Marcy carries the weight that she thinks she is to blame for her moms death and her dads drinking. Julia, on the other hand, is also dealing with the loss of her companion that she had been with since becoming a Sary. Julia is good hearted and loves Marcy. She is not only her assignment but also her best friend.  Julia wants to see her go on to college and get away from her dad's drinking and John, the possessive ex boyfriend.

The story goes from past to present, back and forth, as we learn more and more about the characters. I  enjoyed the story line with Julia and Marcy, but Julia's past history had me wanting to read more and more. Her present day relationship with Marcy was great but her relationship with Derek, Julia's first companion, was so interesting that her other relationships didn't really hold a candle to it. What's interesting about this is that Derek's part of the story wasn't even a big part of the book, but it's truly what helped us get to know what Julia was going through. You can feel the pain she is experiencing, as she tries to live her life without him. Julia has to learn to overcome her sadness and depression as she struggles to help save Marcy.

I really felt for Julia. Losing the one person that made her life complete and thinking that she was the only Sary out there that had loved and lost a companion. Then finding out that Edison had loved and loss the same way made dealing with her loss and accepting it much easier. I was cheering her on when she finally realized that it was okay to love another.

Colors Like Memories was an, amazing YA paranormal romance. It will make you soar with wings then drop you off and catch you once you get near the ground. It definitely deserved 4 WEBS.

*I was given this ebook for a blog tour in return for a fair and honest review.*

Meradeth’s neverbeen a big fan of talking about herself, but if you really want to know, hereare some random tidbits about her:

She’s a NorthernCalifornia girl. This generally means she talks too fast and use"like" a lot.
When she’s notwriting, she’s sequencing dead people’s DNA. For fun!

She’s been writingsince she was 11 years old. It's her hobby, her passion, and she’s so happy toget to share her work!

If she could have asuper-power, it would totally be flying. Which is a little strange, becauseshe’s terrified of heights.
